This is difficult technical and administrative work involving the coordination and implementation of City-County planning and development activities.  The work is performed under the general direction and supervision of the City-County Planning Director but considerable leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative.  The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain close cooperative working relationships with the Planning Director, other Planning Department employees, members of the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment, members of the City-County governing board, other City-County employees, property owners, real estate developers, architects, private land planners, representatives of the business community and the general public.

Associate Planner – Cheyenne, WY

Expectations for Planners at the City of Cheyenne include a high level
of professionalism and customer service. The office atmosphere is fast
paced and our planners must be adaptable team players who can help
develop and add value to their roles.

Cheyenne is the northern cap of the dynamic Front Range. The Capitol
City of Wyoming with a metro area of close to 90,000 people. Cheyenne
is located 50 minutes north of Fort Collins and just 90 minutes north of
Denver. This planner joins our team of 6 planning professionals and
will be involved with current planning as a case planner for various
projects. Responsibilities include development review, producing staff
reports and presenting to Planning Commission and City Council.
Typically our planners have a role coordinating on Planning projects and
other special projects.

Qualifications

The desired candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in urban design;
planning or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
